Human Resources will make every effort to inform associates of the corporate office status no later than 5:00 a.m. via the Associate Hotline at 202-659-1107. Outside the Metropolitan Washington, D.C., area, the direct hotline number is 800-735-4662. You should store these numbers in your phone, wallet, or other convenient place. If there is no special corporate announcement, you should assume that the office is open. Plan to arrive as safely and promptly as possible. If you are unsure about your situation, you should contact your supervisor. In certain emergency situations, the “Notifind” automatic dialing telephone contact system will be implemented, and you will be contacted at your predetermined telephone numbers.

Assessing Situations Because ICMA‑RC operates in a daily processing environment, it is essential that every effort be made to avoid interruptions in service and financial processing. Therefore, situations of severe weather or emergency circumstances are assessed on a case-by-case basis to determine the corporation’s ability to conduct normal business operations during regular business hours.

Note: The corporation does not follow federal government decisions when inclement weather develops. Call the Associate Hotline regarding ICMA‑RC status.

Depending on the degree of severity, inclement weather or emergency, the situation might warrant some of the following decisions by ICMA‑RC: P P Open/Vacation Day Request: Corporate headquarters is open. Associates not performing key functions who do not believe they can commute safely to the office may contact their supervisor and request a vacation day. P P Open/Late Arrival: Corporate headquarters is open. The supervisor has the discretion to approve late arrival. P P Closed/Key Functions Report: Corporate headquarters is closed. Associates designated to perform key functions, however, should make every effort to report to work at the corporate headquarters or the designated disaster recovery site (e.g., Germantown, MD). P P Closed: The corporation is closed. No associates are asked to report to the office. This decision would be reserved for only the most extreme emergency or weather situations. Key associates may be asked to report to work at a designated disaster recovery site. These key associates should make every effort to report to the designated disaster recovery site, or work from home if appropriate and feasible, as determined by their manager. Associates who are not designated as key associates may still be asked to work from home or from another site to support our operations, if possible, based on business needs.
