ICMARC Associate Handbook August 2016

Note: If you require special assistance to exit the building in an emergency, you should give advance notice to Corporate Support Services so that reasonable arrangements for assistance can be arranged.

Weapons and Workplace Violence Workplace violence is a growing concern in today’s environment. ICMA‑RC is committed to making every effort to provide a safe working environment for its associates. It is a violation of ICMA‑RC policy to threaten another individual with bodily harm or exhibit any type of violent or threatening behavior at any time while on ICMA‑RC property, or during working hours, or in connection with ICMA‑RC business regardless of location. Weapons of any kind are prohibited in all ICMA‑RC offices. This prohibition also applies to individuals licensed to carry a concealed handgun under any concealed-weapon law in any city/state. Additionally, all temporary workers, all contractors, all vendors including service personnel, and visitors of any type (except law enforcement personnel), will be prohibited from carrying a weapon in ICMA‑RC offices. Any exception to this policy must be approved in advance by Human Resources and Corporate Support Services and must be reported to building management prior to the visit. An example of such an exception could be a member of the Police Department visiting an ICMA‑RC office. Field Associates must also comply with any restrictions concerning weapons in or on state or local government offices and property. REPORTING THREATS OR VIOLENCE If you experience any of the following situations, you should immediately contact your worksite security, Human Resources or any member of management or the police if the situation, in your best judgment, requires this: P P If you are threatened or witness/overhear a threat of bodily harm P P If you have reason to believe that a threat may be carried out on ICMA‑RC property or while you are engaged in ICMA‑RC business P P If you reasonably fear an assault, are assaulted or witness an assault on ICMA‑RC property P P If you are aware that another associate, vendor, visitor or contractor at ICMA‑RC has possession of a weapon while on ICMA‑RC property P P If you are aware that another associate has a weapon while engaged in ICMA‑RC business regardless of whether or not he/she is on ICMA‑RC property

Note: If you believe you are in imminent danger of being harmed, you should contact the police immediately.
