CHAPTER 6 PAID LEAVE AND LEAVE WITHOUT PAY

VACATION ICMA‑RC provides paid vacation time (annual leave) to all regular full-time associates and to part-time associates who work at least 25 hours a week. Vacation time can also be used for personal and emergency purposes. ICMA‑RC recognizes that associates work hard and encourages everyone to take their vacation time. Supervisors and managers should work diligently and creatively with associates to schedule use of vacation time around business needs. Earned Vacation Hours You begin earning vacation time from your first day of employment. Regular full-time associates earn vacation time as shown below.

Notes Associates who join ICMA‑RC at the manager level and above begin accruing 15 days per year as of the date of hire; however, the maximum annual accrual rate is limited to 20 days, as noted above. ICMA‑RC does not normally pay sick leave or vacation in advance of an associate earning or accruing it. Exceptions to this must be reviewed and approved in advance with the associate’s supervisor and Human Resources. Regular part-time associates earn vacation time on a prorated basis. Vacation time accrues each pay period and can be used as earned in increments of .25 hours or more following approval by the associate’s supervisor. The biweekly pay advice shows the current total number of vacation hours available. Maximum Vacation Accrual ICMA‑RC limits the amount of vacation that can be accrued at any one time to 150% of an associate’s annual accrual rate. For example, associates earning 10 days of leave per year will be able to maintain a maximum vacation balance of 15 days. Once you reach your cap, vacation time will no longer accrue until you reduce the vacation balance by taking leave. The following table shows the maximum vacation accruals for regular full-time associates.
