Scheduling Vacations To ensure that work for ICMA‑RC’s clients is completed in an efficient and accurate manner, the immediate supervisor must approve vacation schedules in advance. With the exception of personal emergencies, vacations of less than one week require the approval of the associate’s supervisor at least five days in advance of the time requested. For vacations of more than one week, three-to-four-week advance notice is required. Although ICMA‑RC makes every effort to accommodate vacation requests, a request may be denied if adequate notification is not given or if business needs prevent approval. Examples of business need include peak work periods, such as year-end close, statement call period, or a major proposal bid.

Vacation Pay upon Termination Upon termination, associates are paid for all accrued and unused vacation time.

PERSONAL LEAVE In January of each year, every associate will be credited with 15 hours of personal leave (prorated for part-time associates). Personal leave may be used in any increment desired for any reason; however, the leave must be requested in advance. If a balance is left in the personal leave account at the end of the year, it will not be carried over but a new 15 hours are awarded for use in the new year on January 1st. Personal leave is not paid out upon termination of employment. Associates who join ICMA‑RC on or before June 30 receive the 15 hours of personal leave for that year. Associates who join ICMA‑RC on or after July 1 receive 7.5 hours of personal leave for that year. These hours are prorated for part-time associates. SICK LEAVE There are two types of sick leave at ICMA‑RC: 1 Annual sick leave, which covers illnesses of short duration and doctor appointments; and 2 Extended sick leave, which covers illnesses that usually last longer. Annual Sick and Safe Leave Annual sick leave is provided to all full-time associates, part-time associates, and ICMA‑RC temporary workers who may be either full time or part time (see definitions on page 31 of this Handbook ) .
