Eligibility for annual sick leave begins on the date of hire, and the leave accrues biweekly according to the chart shown below. Accruals are prorated for part-time associates.

USE OF ANNUAL SICK LEAVE Annual sick leave can be used for: P P Time away from work due to your own illness, injury or medical appointments; P P Time away from work due to the illness, injury or medical appointments of a member of your family , which is defined as: – – spouse or domestic partner and parents of a spouse; – – children (including foster children and grandchildren) of any age and spouses of children; – – parents, brothers and sisters, and spouses of brothers and sisters; – – a child who lives with an associate and for whom the associate permanently assumes and discharges parental responsibility; or – – a person with whom the associate shares a mutual residence and with whom the associate maintains a committed relationship. P P Health care appointments for yourself or a member of your immediate family, as defined above. If possible, these health care appointments should be scheduled either at the start or the end of the day, or during the lunch hour, and you should notify your supervisor as soon as possible to ensure appropriate coverage; P P Being a victim of stalking, domestic violence, or sexual abuse (including social or legal services related to stalking, domestic violence, or sexual abuse); P P To care for family members for whom you have been granted leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act. (See FMLA Leave, page 82.) ANNUAL SICK LEAVE ACCRUAL Full-time regular associates and full-time ICMA‑RC temporary workers accrue annual sick leave on a biweekly basis as shown in the following chart:

Full-time ICMA‑RC Temporary Worker

Accruals are prorated for part-time associates and part-time ICMA-RC temporary workers, but at no less than one hour for each 37 hours worked up to a maximum of seven days per calendar year. New associates hired during the year will accrue at the same biweekly rate as shown in the chart above, but, based on their hire date, they may not receive the full annual accrual during their first calendar year. Annual sick leave is available as it accrues. Some accommodations may be made for those who have been employed for less than six months and have not accrued enough sick leave hours to cover an absence.
