MILITARY LEAVE ICMA‑RC affords job protection to associates serving in the U.S. military, National Guard and the reserves. Written notification of military obligation requiring a leave of absence must be submitted to your supervisor and forwarded to Human Resources immediately upon receipt. In compliance with applicable state and federal laws, all regular full-time and part-time ICMA‑RC associates who are required to report to active duty, active duty training, inactive duty training (such as drills), initial active duty training, funeral honors, and fitness exams for military service are covered under this policy. All qualifying criteria must be met prior to taking military leave. Notification If you will be absent because of a military obligation, you should request military leave as far in advance as possible. The request can be made either verbally or by presenting official orders (if official orders are available at the time duty commences) to your immediate supervisor and Human Resources. For questions about health care benefits and use of vacation leave while on military duty, contact Human Resources. Eligibility for reinstatement after completed military duty or training is determined in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. Leave without pay is a temporary, non-paid employment status for regular full-time and part-time associates. Leave without pay may be granted at the discretion of ICMA‑RC for specific and documented business reasons, hardship situations, parental leave, observance of religious holidays, and for family or medical leave situations. There may be other circumstances when leave without pay may be granted, if approved by your manager and Human Resources. At the discretion of your manager and Human Resources, leave without pay may also be required for unauthorized leave time. Extended Leave without Pay Leave without pay in excess of three consecutive days must be coordinated your supervisor and Human Resources. A leave of absence for one month or more must be for a specific and documented business reason, hardship situation or for family or medical leave. A request for a leave of absence for one month or more must be made in writing and requires the approval of your division head and Human Resources. Approval of a leave of absence request may depend on the ability to fill the position temporarily or the effect of the leave on the corporation and is solely at the discretion of ICMA‑RC. If you are on leave without pay status, you must continue making your share of contributions for benefits under ICMA‑RC’s benefit plans. Depending on the duration of the leave, benefits under the ICMA‑RC Flexible Benefits Plan and the ICMA‑RC Retirement Savings Plan may be affected.
