Torch - Fall 2013

Havergal’s Culture of Philanthropy

In this Fall 2013 issue of The Torch/Annual Report , we are reminded of the importance of supporting our communities by giving our time and resources as well as engaging in creative partnerships to enhance the world around us. It has been our pleasure and privilege to engage in the Havergal community as Chair of the Havergal College Board of Governors and Chair of The Havergal College Foundation for 2012-2013. These volunteer roles are important ways for us to assist the school in its goal of achieving excellence in education. Giving is a cornerstone of the school’s culture of philanthropy and the “joy of giving”—so reflected in the current year’s Annual Giving Program materials—is at the heart of this great school. We all rest on the shoulders of those who came before and we have the opportunity to ensure a bright future for Havergal College, its students and its alumnae by continuing to make Havergal a charitable priority for our respective families. On behalf of the school, we would like to offer our sincere gratitude to the many generous donors who included Havergal College in their philanthropy this past school year. Several of you even chose to commit to a major gift ($25,000+) and, for this act of generosity, we are especially grateful. Giving and participating in the school’s Annual Giving Program is critical to the execution of our mission, “to prepare young women to make a difference,” and all that this means from both a curricular and co-curricular point of view.

We hope that you will continue to give to Havergal. With your philanthropic support the school will flourish and grow into the future.
