Merced is unofficially known as the gateway to Yosemite National Park, and UC Merced students regularly take advantage of the fact that being one with nature is only a short drive away. There are amazing views everywhere you turn, such as this one of Clouds Rest and Pinnacle Peaks from the top of North Dome.
