Y ear 2 - M aking A nzac B iscuits

Year two learnt that ANZAC biscuits are not just a delicious cookie to have with a glass of milk! We began by reading the lovely story “ANZAC Biscuits” by Phil Cummings and Owen Swan. In the story a young girl called Rachel and her mother make ANZAC biscuits for her father who is fighting in the trenches of World War 1. We learnt that the mothers, wives and daughters of the soldiers would bake ANZAC biscuits for their loved ones who were serving their country overseas in the war. They would then pack the biscuits beautifully in metal tins so they kept fresh and send them on to be enjoyed by the soldiers. We used our knowledge of grams and millilitres to measure out all the ingredients to make the perfect ANZAC biscuit! After they were baked we shared the delicious biscuits for morning tea!
