Solicitors’ Bill A deputation was appointed to attend a con ference with the Secretary and officials on matters arising on the Parliamentary Draftsman’s draft o f the Solicitors’ Bill. THE LAND REGISTRY T he .following statement was made in Dail Eireann by the Minister for Justice on June 9th : Deputies will remember that the need for additional staff in the central office of the Land Registry was foreshadowed in what I said on this subject last year. The requisite provision is being made in this year’s estimate. Because of circum stances outside our control, some o f the newly- created posts remain to be filled, and others have had to be filled by temporary staff with a consequent loss of efficiency. Accordingly, it cannot be said that our staff requirements have been fully met. The time lag, which is inseparably associated with the' provision o f additional staff, has had a more adverse affect in this instance because of the fact that we are witnessing an unprecedential expansion T9

The following was among the business trans acted :—• Salaries of Solicitors in the State Service T he Council considered a report from a Committee on the salary scales o f certain solicitors employed in legal departments o f the State. The Committee reported that the salary scales as appearing from the published Estimates are unsatisfactory, and that this is a matter affecting the profession. It was de cided to make representations to the Minister for Finance and a deputation was appointed to seek an interview with him.
