The following was among the business transacted : Extraordinary Members o f the Council T he Secretary read a letter from the Incorporated Law Society of Northern Ireland appointing Messrs. Alexander S. Merrick, Ralph Neilson, George Murnaghan, Charles MacLaughlin, and James C. Taylor, as the extraordinary members on the Council from the Incorporated Law Society o f Northern Ireland. The nominations were adopted. Land Bill, 1949 T he Secretary read correspondence from the country members of the Council to whom the Bill had been circulated. It was ordered that a memorandum should be submitted to the Department o f Lands on the lines of the suggestions made in this correspondence. Salaries o f Solicitors in the State service T he Secretary reported that a memorandum had been prepared for submission to the Minister for Finance dealing with the salaries and conditions of service o f solicitors employed in the State legal 41

IMPORTANT M embers are reminded that certificates for the year to end 5th January, 1951, should be taken out and duty paid thereon not later than 5th February, 1950. A “ late” certificate, i.e., stamped after 5th February, 1950, must be produced to the Society within one month after date o f stamping. M embers are reminded that failure to comply with the requirements in regard to stamping, and, where necessary, producing stamped certificates to the Society, will disentitle them to charge costs.
