Frenchman’s Creek Residents Ava Johnson and Sydney Schiff our great doubles team are pictured in such cute outfits that you can find in the tennis shop!

Thank you, Kristen

As the editor, I take joy in reporting the proud moments of our residents and not mine, however, I must make an exception. I am very proud of my granddaughter, Melisa Diamond, who just became a third generation graduate from the University of Pennsylvania. She surpassed us all as she graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in Physics and Math, while at the same time receiving her Masters Degree in Physics and Astronomy. She will continue her education at Johns Hopkins University for her PHD. More importantly, she is an all around person who bakes, does ballroom dancing, periodically writes a blog and is an organizer.

Thought you would find these pictures interesting of the Crane looking at himself in the mirror and confused by it.

TED PERLMAN had a hole-in-one on Saturday, April 30, 2016. It was on Hole number 9 of the South Course which played at 133 yards. Ted used a 7 iron!

International Night was held, Saturday, April 30, 2016, it is the Trainees Around the World Night to show us their talents, their native dress and their native cuisine. It is always a great evening and we, the residents, are so amazed at their talent. This year was no exception. Our trainees are all so appreciative of our coming out to see them entertain and be so supportive of them. However, we are the appreciative ones of their time and talent. It is the one night we can say thank you for their serving us and catering to all our needs all year long. Edna was the Director, KG was the DJ, Master of Ceremonies was Rohan, Precious and Isabel. All the countries represented modeled their native costumes – a few of the countries were The Ukraine, Spain, Austria, Brazil, Philippines and Africa. The menu was divided into three cuisines: Asian Fusion, Classic American and European, Mediterranean and African. A cute part was The Grill Room Team versus the 19th Hole Team in song, and dance routines. All in all there were 18 acts. It was an enjoyable evening and we hope the trainees realize how much we appreciate their services and desire to be here with us and give up their homeland and all that is familiar to them to be here for a period of time. bobbe wiener

It seems like the Frenchman's Creek Ladies Golf Association season just started. Where has the time gone? April was filled with events marking the approach of summer.

LADIES CLOSING DAY

The closing luncheon was held on Tuesday, April 19th. The golf tournament format was a step-aside nine-hole scramble, with nearly 140 women participating and a dozen more joining the group for the luncheon following golf. The theme of the exceptionally beautifully decorated luncheon was, fittingly, "Everything Is Coming Up Roses", with everyone encouraged to take home a rose from the gorgeous centerpieces. In lieu of favors the Frenchman’s Creek Ladies Golf Association was honored to make a donation to the Robert Bruno Foundation– a gesture the women unanimously endorsed. Marleen Hacker, league president, thanked all the board members and golf staff and introduced the year's new members. Prizes were presented to the most improved golfer, the player with the most birdies and all the major tournament winners. Many thanks to tournament chair Jennifer Weintraub and luncheon coordinators Phyllis Hershman and Ruth Karlin and their committees for a lovely day that truly "came up roses".

The final "9" Wine and Dine Tournament of the season, which was held on Friday, April 29, was a fitting finale to what has become one of the most popular and enjoyable golf events. Despite many members being away from Frenchman's, there were still a lot of participants playing both courses. Lovely weather was a bonus and, as usual, golf was followed by a sumptuous buffet dinner. Thanks to Carol Smith and Joanne Weinbach and their committee who did a super job this year. Everyone is anxiously looking forward to next season's tournaments.

Editors Note:

As you read the Frenchman’s Creek Life publication through the years, you will find our community is made up of very talented and philanthropic residents and their families. We are proud to publish their accomplishments, congratulate them and thank them.

DONNA BARON is very proud of her granddaughter Emily Talkow . She is only 13 years old and has written a book that is being sold on Amazon. The book is called Soar and is an inspirational book for those who need Hope, A Hug or a High Five. Emily is a very special child who wants to help others through whatever means we have. Emily wrote this book to commemorate everyone who has to face something in life they shouldn’t have to. She wrote the book to show the good in life, to show people are not alone, to give people hope and happiness. It is for all ages.

It is a compilation of inspirational quotes that she researched and put into categories, but more importantly, she wrote all the introductions to the book and to each chapter as to why the quotes were there and how she saw the quotes helping others.

If you need a hug or a high five, her goal is that this book will help you. Her insight is way beyond a 13 year old!

MARCIA RADLER has written another book entitled, ANOTHER KIND OF LOVE. This novel is about love being ageless. Babies need it. Teens crave it. Adults complicate it. And the elderly want it to relive it, but acting on it is another story. Actually, acting on it is exactly what this story is about. Henry Silverman is seventy-six years old and he needs some “horizontal stimulation,” as he calls it. He is a member of the Executive Dating Service, so he places an advertisement in the service’s bimonthly bulletin with a hope and a prayer maybe some Boca Raton fox will respond and they can explore the possibilities.

By week’s end, Henry’s mailbox is bursting with responses and he has his work cut out for him–maybe more than he and his stash of Viagra can handle.

And he is not the only one facing love-related challenges. Another Kind of Love is about relationships of all kinds. It intertwines love’s humor, pathos and multi-layered realities–as well as its dark side in the form of an ugly secret that threads the story through, writhing to be discovered. It’s ultimate reveal is shocking and totally unexpected.

Marcia took eight years on and off to write this book!

The Homefront column is designed to inform our members where in the community our new residents are living and other residences they may have. It also keeps up with our present members who have stayed in the community but moved to new dwellings. Of course we always wish our members who are moving out of the community good luck wherever their travels take them and our new members and established members good luck in their new address.

MRS. ANNE STERNLICHT bought Edna and Irv Brown’s house on Provence Drive. She also resides in Quincy, Massachusetts.

CHRIS and BRETT HANDLER bought Millie and Sol Selko’s home on Burgundy Drive. They are going to be full-time residents.

Ladies' Night Out, a tradition at the end of the Frenchman's Creek Ladies' Golf Association season, was quite an enjoyable event. It was held on Thursday afternoon, April 28, with wonderful participation by the members who really had a lot of fun. They played nine holes, with different instructions and formats for each hole, to all degrees of seriousness and silliness - everything from a scramble or best ball, to the oldest in the foursome getting a huge tee advantage. Following golf, the ladies enjoyed a wonderful buffet dinner and dancing and singing to a great D. J. Kudos to Marcia Bloch, along with her team, Andrea Finkel and Linda Epstein, who did a super job of planning and organizing what was a perfectly delightful way to end the season.

This was the end of the year tournament! These are ALL MEMBERS children there were no grandchildren in these pictures! We have young children living at Frenchman’s and how great that is! One boy Noah was a guest of the Schiff family but takes lessons from me with the Schiff family! Plus we were missing another members son Christopher Andrews who did not play! I was so proud of the kids and the kids had so much fun! They work so hard during the season taking lessons and playing matches that the end of the year tournament is exciting to see all the hard work that they have done with their tennis! I had a new winner this year, Lucy Newmyer and Ava Johnson came in second place! Andrew Schiff 6yrs old was most improved player and did so well being with the big kids in the tournament his first tournament! All my kids are super stars from Frenchman’s Creek! Happy to have kids running around and enjoying their tennis!

In the April issue of Frenchman’s Creek Life, on page three, the roseate spoonbill , the bird in the lower right corner, was wrongly called a double created cormorant.
