Our proposal will bring new life to the water’s edge for the city to experience, enjoy and learn from the Volga. Interaction between city and nature will be reciprocal and respectful: we will bring the city to the Volga by means of bridges over railway infrastructures, and underpasses, and we will extend the city grid to encourage housing and other leisure and cultural developments. We will bring the Volga to the city by creating a soft, green edge and by forming a flood retention lake with a public square. New technologies

will filter water and generate energy. Between the city and the Volga we envisage floating architectures of piers, pavilions and stages. Biodiversity will be encouraged by wildification and diversity of landscape conditions. There will be wetlands, parklands, woods and areas for urban farming alongside sports, leisure and cultural activities, and public squares. Promenades, running paths and bicycle routes will connect the length of the site along the water’s edge.
