Co-ordinate Geometry - Linear graphs and distance and mid- point formulae (Chapter 8) Find the distance between two points located on a Cartesian plane using a range of strategies, including graphing software. Find the midpoint and gradient of a line segment (interval) on the Cartesian plane using a range of strategies, including graphing software. Sketch linear graphs. Trigonometry – Applications include angles of elevation and bearings (Chapter 13) Use similarity to investigate the constancy of the sine, cosine and tangent ratios for a given angle in a right-angles triangle. Apply trigonometry to solve right-angled triangle problems. Simultaneous Equations – Graphical, substitution and elimination methods (Chapter 9) Solve linear simultaneous equations using algebraic and graphical techniques including using digital technology. Deductive Geometry – including triangles and other polygons, congruency and Pythagoras’ Theorem (Chapter 11) Investigate Pythagoras’ Theorem and its application to solving simple problems involving right-angles triangles. Formulate proofs involving congruent triangles and angle properties . Apply logical reasoning, including the use of congruence and similarity, to proofs and numerical exercises involving plane shapes.
