C yril “Cy” Joseph Denn is a former financial services executive and financial planner whose areas of expertise include underwriting, marketing and development, and general management. Having begun his career as a factory laborer in Mankato, Minn., he transitioned into working for one of the nation’s largest providers of insurance and employee benefits in the mid-1970s and eventually worked his way up to the management level. In 1974, Mr. Denn was hired as a sales representative by MetLife, where he also worked as a marketing specialist and later a branch manager for an office in Sioux

Falls, S.D. After a brief period as regional manager for the Catholic Aid Association in St. Paul, Minn., now Catholic United Financial, he returned to South Dakota and became a manager with Prudential Financial. From 1995 to 1996, he was an assistant manager for FarmBureau Financial Services and then served as a financial planner with MetLife until his retirement in 2000. Despite his departure from the workforce, Mr. Denn remains extremely active in his community and in organizations with which he has been affiliated over the years. In particular, he is an advocate for legislation that would affect federal budget allocations for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, health care reform, and a number of other public services. A former military intelligence specialist and recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal, he is also working with congressmen to improve the benefits and health care services available to veterans, many of whom live with the devastating realities of post-traumatic stress disorder. In addition to these causes, he has served on the marketing, legislative and developmental committees of FarmAmerica, which aims to preserve Minnesota’s rich agricultural legacy. Mr. Denn, who earned a bachelor’s degree in finance, political science and economics and an MBA, is a Chartered Financial Consultant®, Chartered Life Underwriter and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow. While he now has more time to focus on his hobbies, which include attending rodeo shows and bull riding events, he is also actively engaged with Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion, of which he is a life member. In recognition of his career accomplishments, he has been included in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Finance and Business, and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry.
