Dr. Flinn started his law career as an associate of Charles B. Fulton, Esq. in West Palm Beach, Fla. He remained with the firm for one year until relocating to Washington, D.C., where he became assistant counsel for the U.S. Department of the Navy’s Office of the General Counsel. stayed with the organization for eight years until finally making Virginia his home, using his experience to obtain positions as Arlington’s assistant commonwealth attorney, assistant county attorney, deputy county attorney and county attorney, and as an attorney for the Arlington School Board. In addition to his career as a lawyer, Dr. Flinn is also a priest who received a Bachelor of Divinity from the University of London and a Master of Theology from Westminster Theological Seminary. He was ordained to ministry in the Episcopal Church in 1991 and ordained as a priest in 1992. During his ordination, Dr. Flinn served as a curate for Grace Episcopal Church in Brunswick, Md. After two years as a member of the clergy, he became vicar of Trinity Episcopal Church in Monmouth, Ill. His service and dedication to the church earned him a role as vice chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Quincy. He was a visiting lecturer in biblical language at the Reformed Theological Seminary from 1997 to 2000, and an adjunct faculty member of the Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary from 1999 to 2000.
