A fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Richard David Grundy has applied the principles of science and mathematics to develop economical solutions to technical problems for 44 years. To prepare for his career, Mr. Grundy earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1958 and a Master of Science from the University of California in 1963 before completing postgraduate coursework at George Washington University in 1967 and Harvard University in 1980. He began his engineering career in 1958 as a commercial engineer for PG&E, remaining in that position for a year. organization as a sanitation engineer from 1959 to 1967. He continued to excel in his career, making a home at the U.S. Senate in Washington D.C. During his time there he was a member and senior professional staff for the Committee on Environment and Public Works and executive secretary of the National Fuels and Energy Policy Study. From 1995 until his retirement in 2003, he served as president of Alexandria Energy Associates Inc. Aside from being an engineer, Mr. Grundy has written for the publication “Air Pollution and Industry.” Additionally his knowledge and professional experience have led to his being a co-editor for “Consumer Health and Product Hazards,” and contributing numerous articles to professional journals. He remains a member of the IEEE, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Association of Energy Engineers, the D.C. Society of Professional Engineers, which presented him with the Young Engineer of the Year Award in 1970, the American Orchid Society, and the U.S. Energy Association.
