M ary F. Belmore's desire to provide people with a better quality of life led her to health care over 30 years ago, when a general interest in the industry grew into an aspiration to make a difference in the lives of others. Today she acts as the associate director of research and development quality for Sanofi Genzyme, a biotechnology company that researches and develops treatments for patients with rare diseases.

For over 10 years, Mary has overseen the documentation group used in manufacturing standard operating procedures and managed the archiving groups produced by the labs, as well as the stability group for all clinical trial testing in phases one and two for Sanofi Genzyme. The organization has maintained its expertise in discovering therapies for rare genetic diseases since its beginnings as a biotech startup in 1981. In the three decades since, its reach has expanded to other diseases, such as thyroid cancer and multiple sclerosis, through in-house developments and partnerships. Mary fulfills her career goals daily by actively participating in the discovery process and being a part of a company that delivers its medical findings to the patients who need them. She has remained dedicated to her position and her company by keeping the patients who need her help in mind. For the female health care professionals of tomorrow, her advice is to stay open-minded, as changes are always occurring in the field, and to always be creative when using whatever new tools are provided. Aside from earning an associate degree in business from MassBay Community College, Mary stays abreast of industry advancements by being a member of the Society of Quality Assurance. Outside of work, she regularly donates to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and attends St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In the near future, she would like to continue growing and learning within her profession. Visit www.sanofigenzyme.com to read more about Sanofi Genzyme’s current offerings. Mary F.
