B arbara Lang Betts is a agent, rancher and lawyer who has been practicing for over 60 years. Her knowledge of the law and real estate has aided her in leading a successful career. She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and received a Bachelor of Laws from Balboa University. Ms. Betts partnered with her first husband from 1952 to 1960 and has obtained many other positions related to her field. She was the city attorney for Carlsbad, Calif., from 1958 to 1963 and relied on her real estate savvy when serving as vice chairman of the Carlsbad planning commission and a member of the San Diego planning commission. Having worked at several private practices in Oceanside, San Diego and Sacramento, she joined the Hayes Law Firm in 2004. Ms. Betts co-authored a book titled “A Citizen Answers” alongside her husband, Bert A. Betts. She is affiliated with the American Bar driven and determined go- getter, as well as a real estate

Association, the National Institute of Municipal Law Officers, the California Bar Association and the San Diego County Bar Association. She is also a member of the American Association of University Women, for which she served on the legislature committee, as assistant state legislature chairman from 1958 to 1959, and as local president from 1959 to 1960. Ms. Betts has received many awards and accolades, including the Block S Award from Stanford University, a certificate of appreciation from the Supreme Court and State Bar of California, and being named to Fullerton Union High School’s Wall of Fame. She is most proud of running her own firm, Barbara Lang Betts, Attorney at Law.
