J orge M. Chaminé recognized his passion for music early in his life, having been raised by parents and grandparents who loved the art form despite not having musical backgrounds. As a young man, he sang in an all-boys choir and played many instruments, receiving a soprano role in a Portuguese opera at the age of 12. His family’s interests influenced his own and fueled his desire to pursue music professionally. Mr. Chaminé is an artist and educator whose international career has brought him to the world’s most prestigious stages and concert halls, making him one of the most innovative and sought-after soloists of the present day. He has sung with a number of premier conductors and ensembles, such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic, the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Ensemble Intercontemporain. autistic children in his career, he realized that there is an important connection between the human psyche and music. Now he is utilizing his talents to help bring humanity together, as he believes music to be a form of therapy. Though Mr. Chaminé attributes his progression to having great mentors, he believes that people achieve and maintain success by looking within themselves and being true to who they are. He is currently working on three projects, including the creation of a unique, high-level school in Bougival, where music will be the link between arts, science, medicine, philosophy and mathematics. He is also working on an initiative named “Ziryab,” which will show how refugees and cultural minorities can be assets to society, as well as “The Singing Poles,” a concert aiming to link the Arctic and Antarctic regions through music. Mr. Chaminé, who received the Medal of Human Rights from UNESCO in recognition of his work with humanitarian organizations, is the president and artistic director of the CIMA Festival in Tuscany and vice president of the Georges Bizet Foundation.
