MILLENNIUM

W hen William Faulkner said, “Don’t be ‘a writer.’ Be writing,” he appealed to artists like Audrey Cielinski-Kessler, whose love for her craft catapulted her into a lifelong career. Upon graduating with high honors and obtaining a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas, she was ready to see her prose included alongside that of established writers. She began her career as a reporter and writer for Medical World News and, due to her experience, was later promoted to assistant copy chief, a position she served in for one year before becoming an editorial assistant for the Journal of Health and Social Behavior.

She continued to grow in her career, obtaining positions as a secretary for the department of psychology at the Baylor College of Medicine, and a procedures analyst, technical writer, and technical librarian for the Harris County Data Processing Department. She was also a level-three communications specialist for the Houston Police Department’s Office of Planning and Research and delved into education by teaching a technical writing class. During her career, Ms. Cielinski-Kessler has been a freelance technical writer, writer and editor. Her most fulfilling role to date is running a business as owner of The Write Hand of Ohio, a company that offers an array of communication products and services, ranging from writing and editing to document design and project management. Her varied subject matter includes medical topics, health, software, manufacturing maintenance and law enforcement, while manuals, newsletters, academic journal articles, books, dissertations and Web content are among the items she creates and edits. She has been running the award-winning company since 1992. Ms. Cielinski-Kessler has served on boards within her community and edited several newsletters. She is a member of the Kent Historical Society and the Society for Technical Communication. Audrey Cielinski-Kessler Writer, Editor The Write Hand of Ohio Kent, OH
