J ohn Cogswell has made a name for himself as a telecommunications executive and financial consultant. Mr. Cogswell had a successful career for over 30 years until his retirement in 1990. Before retiring, he served as secretary-treasurer for the New England Telephone Company. Mr. Cogswell began his career by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science from Dartmouth College. While advancing his education, he also served as a second lieutenant and was subsequently promoted to captain in the U.S. Army Reserve. He made his home at the New England Telephone Company in 1956 and prospered, becoming an engineer, planning engineer, staff accountant, construction program engineer, and division manager of finance. He took a break from the company in 1965 and worked as an engineer and manager of economics for the American Telephone Company until 1968. While Mr. Cogswell is retired, he remains involved by participating in a variety of organizations, including the VNA Care Network Foundation, and attending Needham town

meetings. He has also been very active in his community through his engagement in town government and health care, serving on the board of directors of the New England Health Care Foundation from 1992 to 1996, and being a board member and treasurer of Living Care Villages of Massachusetts. A member of the Financial Management Association and the Financial Executive Institute, Mr. Cogswell received an award from Combined Health Appeal of America in 1992 and the Class of 1955 Award from Dartmouth College in 2003.
