C . Barry Crutchfield has not been named one of the top 10 trial lawyers in New Mexico for no reason. His assertiveness and drive to reach justice have made Mr. Crutchfield successful during his career in law. He received a Bachelor of Science from Eastern New Mexico University in 1968 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas in 1971, embarking on his career soon after. Jumping head-first into the field, he became deputy counsel for the governor of Texas right after graduating. That same year, he became a judge advocate and military judge for the United States Marine Corps, a position he remained in for three years. During his service in the Marine Corps, he was admitted to the state bars of Texas and New Mexico, the U.S. Court of Military Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. His diligence afforded him the opportunity to become partner of Sanders, Templeman & Crutchfield in 1974. He has remained

with the firm, now Templeman & Crutchfield, as an attorney since 1977. In addition to his legal career, Mr. Crutchfield served as a captain in the United States Marine Corps from 1971 to 1974. He was also a member of the law school board of visitors at the University of New Mexico from 1981 to 1985 and has been on the New Mexico Board of Bar Examiners since 1982. A fellow of the New Mexico Bar Foundation, he holds membership in the New Mexico Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now the American Association for Justice). His tireless efforts earned him the Outstanding Contribution Award from the State Bar of New Mexico in 1990 and again in 1993, as well a spot on the association’s list of Top 100 Trial Lawyers.
