Curie cable

Construction of the main trunk of Google’s Curie subsea cable between Los Angeles and Valparaíso is complete, and Google has said it will add a branch that will land in Panama. It will be the first branch on the cable, and will boost overall connectivity and bandwidth to central America while helping Google connect its global cloud platform to more networks in the region. Since starting work on Curie, Google has announced construction of two more wholly owned private submarine cables

set to begin operations in 2020: Dunant, to carry data between the US and France; and Equiano, which will run between South Africa and Portugal. Curie carries four 18Tbps fiber optic pairs, providing 72Tbps total bandwidth. According to Google, Curie is the first subsea cable to land in Chile for 19 years.
