LEADING THE WAY FOR FOOTBALL CLUBS IN EUROPE | No. 3 - 2014/15

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// NEWSLETTER ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

FOREWORD ///////////////////////////////////////////

The month of November is always a very busy and important one for European club football. With the end of the year around the corner, both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League enter in a crucial phase, with the first clubs already qualifying for the knock-out stage. Additionally, most domestic championships based on a summer schedule have delivered their verdict, with several ECA Member Clubs crowned champions of their respective league. I would like to take this opportunity to warmly congratulate them all. Off the pitch, the agenda is equally filled with events. ECA Subdivision Meetings are currently being held, allowing Member Clubs to discuss and exchange ideas on common topics. At FIFA level, intense discussions on the 2022 FIFA World Cup take centre stage. Two task force meetings, gathering representatives from FIFA, Confederations, Associations, Leagues, Clubs, ECA, EPFL, FIFPro and the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee took place in September and earlier this month, and more are expected to be held during 2015. For the time being, no decision has been taken regarding the tournament dates, but a summer world cup appears to be very unlikely. It goes without saying that we will update you on any development in this regard. In the meantime, I wish you all a successful autumn and an enjoyable read.
