Crystal Chronicles - December 2017

From t he Manager ’ s Desk

Hello all and welcome to December’s edition of the Crystal Waters Chronicles. Coming from the Northern Hemisphere it has always struck me that Christmas is held at the wrong time of year in this country. All the images I was bombarded with back in England were of log fires burning, snow falling and plenty of piping hot food to keep you fuelled up for the colder days. So personally, I find it very difficult to get into the Christmas spirit when we are experiencing 30 degree heat. However, there is an upside to this and that is you can spend the day outside enjoying this glorious country. It’s the perfect weather for a celebration on the beach with friends and family, and of course I don’t think it would be classed as an Aussie Christmas if we didn’t have a BBQ with fresh meat and seafood. The roadworks are taking longer than expected due to the weather (why does it always rain when the roads are being done) and all the trades are busy with the run up to Christmas. I have been assured that all the works will be finished well before Christmas so all roads will be open soon. The latest two homes to be delivered are moving on at a pace with both of them to be finished by the end of the first week of December with their new owners moved in. This month we welcome four new residents to our Village community. Col and Pam will move into Site 102, Helen into Site 107 and Kate into Site 169. Please say hello to them if you see them walking around the Village or at a function. Last month’s quiz certainly seemed to get people talking. Below are the official answers to the quiz:- 1. Name the three national flags of Australia. Answer: The Australian National Flag, the Australian Aboriginal Flag, and the Torres Strait Islander Flag. 2. Which colony in Australia was decided by the British Government to be the place for housing convicts? Answer: New South Wales 3. Who oversees the bill that is passed by the two parliament houses in Australia? An- swer: Governor-General 4. A government formed group consisting of two or more people for a particular responsibility or cause is best known as? Answer: Coalition 5 What does the term ‘fair go’ convey? Answer: It refers to achievement due to ability, skill, and experience. Seeing as it is Christmas here is a little Christmas Joke to end my report on: Two snow- men in a field, one turned to the other and said, "I don't know about you but I can smell carrots!" Wishing you all a merry Christmas and prosperous New Year! Peter and the Crystal Crew
