The Year So Far At BERTHON. The first half of 2020 brought new challenges to face and overcome at Berthon. It would be remiss not to immediately address these, to ensure you know precisely what has been happening at the Big Blue Sheds on the Lymington waterfront. Coronavirus caused a large number of changes on site and Berthon is extremely proud of its staff for their calm and measured response to the pandemic, lockdown and eventual return to work. Berthon’s directors took an extremely cautious approach to the situation as it developed. They implemented every government recommended measure – and many more - to safeguard both staff and the wider public who use and visit Berthon’s facilities. At the heart of every decision has been the protection of the community. Berthon continues to implement new or adjusted procedures whenever necessary, to continue to preserve wellbeing on site. You can find the latest protocols on the website. Pre Covid-19, Marina Manager Luke Machin spent time developing a new ‘You Ask, We Listen’ policy. Investing in Molton Brown hand soaps and lotions for the washrooms and replacing some of the customer trollies (with older ones recycled to the yard!), Luke also added a further washing and drying machine set after it was brought to his attention that the waiting time for laundry was increasing. Berth holders and visitors are the heart of Lymington Marina, with decisions and improvements made with them at the core. If you have taken a trip down the river recently you will have seen a number of impressive boats in residence. These include a Swan 95; a Leonard 74 (now ashore for work); a 30m Feadship; and a 32m Bill Tripp SY. Due to the pandemic these boats, who would normally be cruising the Mediterranean at this time of year, have chosen to use Berthon and its outstanding facilities as their Berthon provide our customers with a full-service boatyard employing 170 staff, with more than 100 of them highly skilled. The skilled workforce includes individuals qualified in engineering, plumbing, boat building, paint spraying, joinery, rigging, marine electrics and electronics, yacht valeting and dry sailing support. A dedicated Project Managers (PM) team oversee any works that are carried out on a boat. If you have a job you would like carried out, all you have to do is make one phone call to your personal PM and they will arrange the rest. Your PM will provide you with a competitive quote for the works required and help guide you through both the process and timescales so that you are kept up to date at every moment. If there is a job that requires additional technical expertise, then your PM can arrange that too. Using Berthon’s project manager system simply means you have more time to appreciate your boat. Work taken is guaranteed to be of the highest standard and guaranteed - leaving your spare time to be more agreeably used enjoying the water. Berthon’s paint facilities are world class, providing an enviably flawless finish. We are able to fit the latest marine technologies from the likes of Raymarine, Garmin, B&G, Simrad and Furuno. Teak deck repairs and refits are carried out in partnership with Moody Teak Decking, as only the best will do. Engine works are overseen by Kevin Ashworth, whose expertise is unsurpassed. Berthon are fortunate to be able to call upon such a wide pool of knowledge in-house. The Projects team understand a seemingly simple task can often uncover something unexpected and increase works, but up to three alternatives are generally offered before Berthon deals with the issue concisely and efficiently on-site and often with minimum or no delay.

VERSADOCK BHG MARINE
With the phone ringing off the hook at VersaDock it would be easy to forget that we are in the midst of a global Pandemic. HQ is now located at a kitchen table; which also accommodates a home-school! The pace has not slowed at all, and it is clear the demand for solutions including floating pontoons, Jet ski docks and drive on docks is high. Versadock do not restrict themselves to the confines of traditional on the water solutions. At the beginning of the lockdown the idea of an on-water floating glamping/isolation pod was born. A relaxing, on the water space, for quiet contemplation or perhaps an artist’s studio. Whatever the project, Versadock are ready to listen and help turn ideas into reality. Already ISO certified, this year Versadock have added to their gamut by achieving a CE mark of approval. "CE Mark and ISO certification are important milestones for Versadock," said Chris Davison, sales manager for the company. "Versadock’s commitment to quality, service and innovation have always been key to the company’s success. Now, with both CE Mark Approval and ISO accreditation, Versadock can offer
unrivalled certainty to its customers and expand into new markets”. Since the 1st of June the installation team have been busy fitting bunk systems, Jet Ski docks and drive on docks across the South Coast. A customer in Port Solent took the time to thank VersaDock for their work, commenting: Hi Chris, The dock is brilliant. I am the envy of my neighbours. Jack and Ryan were great and really cracked on with the job, especially impressive considering how hot it was. Both really knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough to help. Thanks If you would like to discuss your project or if you would like a demonstration of the drive on dock at Berthon Lymington Marina, please contact Chris Davison on 01590 671300.
