UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO ...

USD's onrushing Pioneers have came a long way since the first meeting of the year between the two schools, and Ken Leslie's cagers are out to break the two year jinx by Cal Western. - The addition of 6-8 center Dove Hinds and the phenominal marksmanship of guard Jim Fleming and forward Russ Cravens hove netted the Pioneers from Alcala Park an 8-8 record against collegiate competition and a bevy of recent victories. Hinds transferred to the USD school from Son Francisco U. and has helped consider- ably in the rebounding and scoring deportments. The tall and talented junior injured his hand in last week's game against the San Diego Marines, but is expected to return to the lineup tonight and battle the Westerners on the boards. Fleming and Cravens ore in o heated scoring dual for top team honors and both are hitting around the 19.0 mark. Both men always pose big problems for the Western five as San Diegans can remember from the last encounter between the two rivals when Cravens scared 19 and Fleming hit for l 8-points.

KEN LESLIE Head Coach, USD

The two will be joined by forward Dick Madsen, a transfer from St. Ambrose College in Iowa; and guard John Robbins, who has been ploying brilliant boll in recent games for the USO club. Hinds will probably start at the pivot spat if his hand is well healed. If the big man cannot sta rt, Leslie will use 6-4 frosh Mike O'Connor, a defensive specialist.
