V&AWaterfront switches on solar A rooftop solar system has been installed at Cape Town’s V&AWaterfront. Provincial Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde, switched on the 7 500 square metre rooftop solar electricity system in Cape Town, commencing the powering of key buildings on the property with an estimated total output of 1 640 000 kWh of clean energy per year. At present, 900 kW have been successfully connected to the grid on six roofs. The three month installation process was concluded by Sustainable Power Solutions and its partners SolarWorld Africa, SMA Solar Technology South Africa and Schletter South Africa. First African team in BridgestoneWorld Solar Challenge The Solar car team of the North-West University has done it! They are the first team from South Africa and Africa to cross the finish line of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.
