The Policy Board Meeting Summary in the last issue of the Greensheet, dated May 14th, provided a description of a new Web.com Tour Finals card system that was approved by the Policy Board at their April 29 meeting. While the Board prelim- inarily approved the new system for im- plementation in 2014, there remained one element of the new system, requiring fur- ther review by both the PGA TOUR PAC and the Web.com Tour PAC. The question concerned the ability of a player from the Top 25 Web.com Tour Regular Season improving his position in the category, if his results solely in the Web.com Tour Finals placed him in a higher position among the other 25 play- ers from the Web.com Tour Finals than he would have otherwise had within his own group. The Policy Board also want- ed the TOUR to clarify the path to exempt positions 1A and 1B. Both the PGA TOUR and Web.com Tour PACs held special meetings on Tuesday, May 13, and recommendations have been made to the Policy Board for re- view. If ratified by the Policy Board, the new system would be as follows and in effect for the 2014 Web.com Tour Finals.
The Top-25 from the Web.com Tour Regular Season carry their money into the Finals events and their ordering is determined at the conclusion of the Fi- nals. The #1 player from the Web.com Tour Top-25 Regular Season is now identi- fied following the conclusion of the four Finals events, using combined Regular Season and Finals money. The ordering of all players after the Fi- nals is done using a "zippered" method, whereby the final order of the 50 cards alternates between the Top-25 Regular Season list and the 25 leading players on the Finals money list. A Top-25 player from the Regular Sea- son could take the #1 position from the Finals if he wins the most money in the four Finals events. The Top-25 at the conclusion of the reg- ular season are guaranteed their card. 25 additional cards are available at the Finals for other players.
