4. Reporting a. Students and school division employees should report alleged violations of this policy to school level administrators. Sexual harassment alleged violations may also be filed with the school system’s Title IX/Section 504 Coordinator, who is the Director of Human Resources. The office is located in the School Board Office at 605-9 Pine Street, Hillsville, Virginia 24343, Phone numbers are (276) 728- 3191 or (276) 236-8145. Investigations will be conducted in accordance with the Division’s sexual harassment complaint procedures. b. School division employees and agents are responsible for reporting alleged violations of this policy in accordance with the Division’s Title IX and sexual harassment and complaint procedures. 5. Coverage This policy applies to all students, to all Division employees, including administrators, teachers and support staff, and to all School Division contractors and consultants. 6. Retaliation Prohibited a. The Division will discipline any individual who retaliates against any person who reports alleged sexual harassment or who retaliates against any person who assists in an investigation or proceedings relating to a sexual harassment complaint. b. Retaliation includes, but is not limited to, any form of intimidation, reprisal or harassment. (JFHA)

GANG ACTIVITY OR ASSOCIATION (JFCE)

A.

Definition: Gang activity is defined as:

• wearing, using, distributing, displaying, or selling any clothing, jewelry, emblem, badge, symbol, sign, or other thing that is evidence of membership or affiliation in any gang; • committing any act or omission, or using any speech, either verbal or non-verbal (such as gestures or hand-shakes) showing membership or affiliation in a gang; • using any speech or committing any act or omission in furtherance of the interests of any gang, including: (a) soliciting, hazing and initiating others for membership in any gang, (b) requesting any person to pay protection or otherwise intimidating or threatening any person, (c) committing any other illegal act or other violation of school policy and inciting other students to act with physical violence; • inappropriate congregating, bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, intimidation, degradation, disgrace and/or related activities which are likely to cause bodily danger, physical harm, or mental harm to students, employees or visitors. B. General: A student shall not engage in gang activities including any group activity that threatens, that is illegal and violent, or that portends the development of gang activity, which may include inappropriate congregating, bullying, and harassment.
