• The number of apps for diagnosing skin cancer has grown hugely

• More than 50 smartphone apps are available (teledermatology, automatic classifications, …)

• But they may give patients false reassurance because the apps may not recognise a lot of cancers or may not pick up on all red flag symptoms • However, apps specifically based on patient education about skin cancer can offer public health benefits in terms of how to stay safe in the sun and what warning signs to look out for
