They report directly to the government and are independent and impartial. They inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people providing support and guidance to each school based on its needs

Each school has an Education Scotland report and will be graded as one of the following;

1. Excellent 2. Very Good 3. Good 4. Satisfactory 5. Weak 6. Unsatisfactory
