These commu nities offer meal programs and typically have a focus on social and recreational activities. Retirement Communities differ greatly in terms of services and amenities offered. The term Continuing Care Retirement Community or CCRC refers to a facility or cam pus setting that is able to respond to an individual’s need for differing levels of care as needs change. The levels of care typically include independent living and skilled nursing care. These ser vices may also be augmented by assisted or supportive living, home health care and/or adult day services, allowing one to select the level of care most appropriate for the individual’s changing circumstances. continuing care Retirement communities (ccRc’s):

Most CCRC’s use an endow ment fee (non-refundable) or an entrance fee (refundable) to help keep monthly fees lower. These up front fees provide the funds to pay for the range of services one might need over time, including the availability of nursing care. Many CCRC’s also offer monthly rental options which tend to have higher monthly rates, with no endowment or entrance fees. It is important to have a thor ough understanding of endow ment and entrance fee structures. When looking at a CCRC, be aware that each community will offer a different package of ser vices and fees.
