COLOPHON

A Note on the Type

in which this Book is Set

This book is setin Old Style No.7,aface largely based on a series originally cut by the Bruce Foundry in the early seventies and that in its turn appears to have fol lowed, in all essentials, the details ofaface designed and cut, some years before, by the celebrated Edinburgh type founders. Miller and Richard. It has always been a pop ular and satisfactoryface because, while it is designed so that a large number of words appears on a page, its com pactness is not accompanied by any loss in legibility. Old Style No.7 gives the page composed in it a subdued color and even texture which makes it easily and com fortably read.
