Testing

• Testing needs to be performed on all hardware and software prior to implementation – Failure to test puts a Licensee at risk if hardware/software fails • Requires testing for all applicable uses that a Licensee will be using, e.g. accuracy of input & output, totals for each type of activity, etc. • Ensures that the hardware and software will work as designed • Introduction of new software products into an environment will work/integrate with other core and ancillary software • Test in a environment separate from production

Implementing

• Implementation phase involves installing approved hardware and software applications • Installation occurs when the system(s)/application(s) are in “off hours” to prevent disrupting normal activity • Ensure all aspects of security and controls will operate as designed • Ensuring all employees have been provided training to familiarize them with new features/functionality • Have a “back-out” feature should anything occur that halts normal processing activity
