Innovative Workforce Incentive Program The Ohio Department of Education and Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation have announced a list of industry-recognized credentials that provides $34 million in funding opportunities to districts under the new Innovative Workforce Incentive Program. Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio General Assembly developed the program to create more opportunities for students to earn in-demand, industry-recognized credentials. The program includes $9 million in Ohio’s two-year budget for grants to encourage the startup of additional credential programs. Eligible applicants include city, local, and exempted village school districts, community schools, STEM schools, educational service centers and joint vocational school districts. Schools can begin applying for a share of the funding on Dec. 19 through the state’s Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP) grant application process. Schools also are eligible to receive a share of $25 million from the state budget to establish credential programs that prepare students for careers in priority industry sectors. Under this program, schools can receive $1,250 for each qualifying credential earned by a student.
