Pencil Beam Approximation

 Irradiation field decomposed in thin pencil beams  Superposition of longitudinal pencil beam kernels in 2D (much faster since 2D integration)  Summation of individual narrow beams  Kernel creation by deconvolution of measurements (or MC)  Pencil beam kernel cannot be modified locally (i.e. for inhomogeneities), does not take the changes of lateral scattering effects into consideration
