• International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements (ICRU) develop guide-lines for prescribing, recording, and reporting absorbed dose for radiation therapy • ICRU 50, 1993 defined GTV/CTV/PTV • ICRU 62; 1999 added PRV, IM and setup margin • Dose prescribed to • 100% (ICRU ref point) • Range 95-107% • These documents recommended concepts and procedures for • tumour and normal tissue delineation • margins to take into account potential tumour invasion, organ motion, and setup error.
