SENSORS, SWITCHES + TRANSDUCERS

Pressure measurement – reliable, precise, custom made Pressure measurement is used across many industries for level, volume, density or flow measure- ment. Whether gas, vapour or liquids: VEGA pressure transmitters deliver reliable and highly accurate readings in all media. The new VEGABAR series 80 is a testament to VEGA’s innovative strength. Even extremely fast temperature changes have no influence on the measuring result. Every sensor of the VEGABAR series 80 can be configured to be used in a differential pressure measurement system. All pressure transmitters are conceived, realized and perfected in VEGA’s own development depart- ment. VEGA manufactures the CERTEC ceramic measuring cells and metallic METEC measuring cells under ‘Class 100 clean room’ conditions. In this completely dust-free atmosphere, the CERTEC measuring cells are printed and fired in thick film technology. The glass solder joint between the body and the ceramic diaphragm has to lie within a spacing tolerance of only +/- 1 micron. With pressure instruments everything depends on the tightness of the measuring cell. That is why VEGA quality assurance staff check every sin- gle cell for helium tightness in a helium leak tester. Each cell is also tested to rule out any temperature-relat- ed malfunction. This test exposes the cell to temperatures from -20 to +100°̊C. An individual serial number ensures that each pressure transmitter is traceable. Crucial for the accuracy of the pressure transducers is their calibration. Every pressure transducer gets a test certificate confirming it has gone through the cali- bration procedure. In addition to developing and manufacturing all the core technologies of its instruments VEGA employs the modular instrument platform plics. This intelligent product concept makes it possible for VEGA to put together an instrument perfectly optimised for the customer’s specific measuring task. Enquiries: Chantal Groom. Raytek CM sensor now in 4-20 mA

processing; adjustable target emissivity set- tings; and adjustable window transmissivity setting. The CM’s remote configuration ca- pability allows it to be configured for virtual- ly any application, reducing installation and troubleshooting time, and streamlining data acquisition. This feature also eases trouble- shooting when the sensor is located in a hostile or remote location. A built-in sensor health LED provides a convenient on-line indicator of the sensor's operating status and aids in troubleshoot- ing initial sensor set up. The Raytek CM sensor is designed to measure target temperatures ranging from -20°C to 500°C. Its on-board electronics are protected by a rugged IP 65 stainless steel

Designed for easy integration, the Raytek CM sensor – available from R&C Instru- mentation – can easily replace tradition- al contact probes with a J-type or K-type thermocouple output, or with a user-scale- able 0-5 V output. In addition, due to cus- tomer demand, a 4-20 mA version is now available. This the ideal option for increased immunity to electrical interference and sig- nal loss over long cable runs. An RS232 digital interface allows the user to configure all programmable sensor variables via the powerful Raytek DataTemp Multidrop software. These include a 24 Vdc alarm output triggered by target temper- ature or head ambient temperature; peak hold, valley hold or variable averaging signal

housing, allowing the sensor to function in ambient temperatures to 70°C without cooling. Enquiries:Tel. 086 111 4217 or email info@randci.co.za

Photoelectric miniature sensor with maximum precision The new powerful O8 sensor is an optimum choice for applications where space is at a premium such as assembly and robotics. It might be small, but the sensor achieves very long ranges. Moreover the background suppression is extremely reliable and precise even for the detection of very small, flat or reflective objects. The O8 reliably copes even with constantly changing backgrounds, e.g. on robot arms. Reliable and efficient thanks to IO-Link IO-Link allows simple setting of the ranges and sensitivity, with the range adjustable to the nearest millimetre. A complex adjustment of the distance from the sensor to the object is not needed. The new sensors are also available with pre-set ranges. With their reliability and precision they are much above the average of conventional devices. Enquiries:Tel. +27 (0) 12 450 0400 or email info@ifm.com
