SENSORS, SWITCHES + TRANSDUCERS

Small but mighty: Always on the right track

enables quick, easy and accurate com- partment positioning in either small part container storage warehousing or in sin- gle-depth pallet high-bay warehouses. Equipped with powerful, ambi- ent-light-independent IR LED lighting, a single device can be used for the entire working range of up to 600 mm. A mod- el with integrated heating is also available for use in refrigerated warehouses where temperatures go down to minus 30°C. Ensuring optimum reliability under all conditions is managed by its integral mon- itoring system with a quality score which identifies diminishing reading capacity of the sensor early on. This reduces downtime and improves the availability and cost effec- tiveness of the sensing systems.Counta- pulse Controls is the official southern Afri- can distributor for Leuze electronic’s range of sensing solutions and its team is able to

With the IPS 200i, Leuze electronic has in- troduced the smallest camera-based sen- sor on the market for compartment fine positioning with high-bay storage devices in single-depth storage. Available from Jo- hannesburg based Countapulse Controls , this sensor offers some powerful advan- tages, among these its fast commissioning and simple alignment. Speedy commissioning is one of the most powerful advantages of the Leuze IPS 200i sensor. This is accomplished us- ing a web-based configuration tool and ad- justments are made directly on the small camera-based device itself. Engineered for optimum user friendliness, an alignment system with feedback LEDs provides ad- ditional support. Due to its clever and compact design, the Leuze IPS 200i only needs a small space on high-bay storage devices. This

provide technical input and support. This en- sures that the most appropriate technology is applied to a given application.

Pressure transmitters for hydraulic systems Turck, Supplied locally by RET Automation , has expanded its line of PT2000 pressure transmitters with the release of a variant for use in hydraulic sys- tems. “With a list of features that includes an SAE fitting, stainless cell, gel filled housing, and an integrated snubber to reduce the damaging effects of pres- sure spikes, these transmitters provide an ideal solution for demanding hy- draulic applications,” explained RichTallant, product manager for sensors. “The SAE #4 and SAE #6 process connections are particularly important, as they are commonly used for hydraulic equipment in North America.” The new transmitters, which offer a welded stainless steel measuring cell for increased durability and increased chemical compatibility, have no elastomer seals and all wetted materials are 316L stainless steel. Addition- ally, the housing is more compact than existing solutions, suiting it for ap- plications with space constraints. The transmitters are available in multiple pre-scaled pressure ranges from 30 to 14 500 psig.

Exergen IRt/c controls paint curing with radiant heaters

A rather logical combination of heating method and control is radiant heat with an Exergen IRt/c for con- trol. They work extraordinarily well together, since both the heating and measuring occur right at the surface, where the paint is located. The Exergen IRt/c reading is unaffected by reflections from the heater, since the spectral response of the 6-14 micron IRt/c lens filters out the shorter wavelengths of the radiant heater energy. The Exergen IRt/c may be mounted in the shroud or reflector of the radiant heater, such that it can see through the elements. Select any of the Exergen IRt/c models, depending on the field-of-view required to see past the elements to the painted surface. Test the location by turning on the heater with no target present. The change in reading should be small. Care should be taken in mounting the IRt/c in such a way as to keep its temperature below 93°C and to keep the lens clean. The IRt/c.3x, .5, and .10 are the pre- ferred models for this application because of their built-in air purge. They can be used in environments with temperatures up to 121°C or higher when the air purge system is used. The narrow fields-of-view allow more leeway in positioning, and thus more flex- ibility in installation. Enquiries:Tel. +27 (0) 791 6000 or email sales@tempcon.co.za

The new variant also offers multiple output signals, al- lowing the sensor to adapt to users’ existing control circuitry, including 4-20 mA, 0-10 V, ratiometric, 1-6 V, and 0-5 V. Additionally; it carries an IP67 rating and works with media tempera- tures up to 135°C.
