CONTROL SYSTEMS + AUTOMATION

Smarter, more secure process operations Digital transformation in process operations requires seamless and secure connectivity between the device and the enterprise. The PlantPAx distributed control system (DCS) from Rockwell Automa- tion has long helped make this connectivity possible through its alignment with plant-wide automation technology and use of open communication standards. Now, Rockwell Automation is revealing new enhancements coming to the platform to help process opera- tions capture more value across the entire plant and enterprise. “During 2018, new innovations to the PlantPAx DCS will help us- ers create smarter, more secure, robust and productive operations,” said Christo Buys, Business Manager - Control Systems, Sub-Saha- ran Africa, Rockwell Automation. “The next release of our PlantPAx DCS will again leverage valuable input from process users and align with preferred industry standards to deliver increased value to the process industries. These innovations help companies leverage their DCS to more easily capture benefits from plant-wide integration in the Connected Enterprise.” The next PlantPAx DCS release will help users reduce unplanned downtime and improve system availability. This includes support for Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP), an industry standard for redundant Ethernet, enabling more secure controller and I/O communications. Solutions for specific identification Brady Corporation develops reliable labels and identification solutions that can resist extreme temperatures, chemicals, pressure or friction. These tested labels enable more work- place safety, better troubleshooting, complete traceability and other identification advantages in challenging applications and environments. Even complex surfaces in challenging industri- al environments can be durably identified with a professional identification label. Brady uses material science, expertise and worldwide experience in a great number of industries to de- velop identification labels that stick on clean, rough, oily and powdered surfaces, and that remain legible when exposed to extreme temperatures, chemicals, abrasion and pressure. Industries with identification challenges can contact Brady to find a durable solution. Customer service and R&D teams can propose a standard label or research and construct new labels to solve unique identification needs.

Available customisable label components include label mate- rials, adhesives, topcoats, lam- inates, sizes, colours, shapes, layouts and pre-prints. Just like standard labels, custom labels can also be printed or finalised at any location. Install the firm- ware update on your custom capable Brady label printer, load the custom label rolls, manually or automatically add the specif- ic information your label should display, print and identify.
