The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame has recognized a Torero football player every year Three have been named Burger King National Scholar-Athletes of the Week 75 of USD's current school records have been established since 1990 Team ranked #2 in Net Punting in 1994 NCAA I-AA Evan Hlavacek (1993-96, RB & WR), a member of the Albany Firebirds in the Arena Football League, led the 2000 team with 97 tackles as a defensive specialist; the 1999 team was crowned the AFL World Champions. Dylan Ching (1996-99), the program's all– time leader in receiving, was a 3rd round pick by the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders. He is still playing in the CFL.
