9. TAB K·NIFE FINGERS CIRCUIT

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

ClRCUIT DESCRIPTION The knife fi"ngers solenoid is energized when the 115 volt ac circuit is completed through triac Q6. The triac conducts the 115 volts ac when 24 volts de is applied to its gate terminal. When the knife fingers are raised by setting the front panel FINGERS switch to AUTO, the voltage is available through the same path a~ in the SEMI position. The knife fingers will raise auto- ·matically when the ?Fingers Up switch is actuated. When the Fingers Up switch is actuated, the knife fingers will stay in the raised position through ·.means of a holding circuit provided through the Fingers Down switch. When the contacts of relay CR6 are closed, a holding circuit is provided to the coil of relay CR6 through the Fingers Down switch. When the knife_ fingers are raised by setting the front panel FINGERS switch to the UP position, the 24 volts de is applied directly to the triac and the coil ·of the fingers up relay ( CR6 )through the Clamp Table Forward switch, if the table is in the forward position. When the knife fingers are raised by setting the ffont panel FINGERS switch to the SEMI posi– tion, with the clamp table all the way forward, 24 voltage is applied to triac Q6 through the Clamp Table Forward, FllNGERS, Turning and· the Thread Monitor switches to relay CR6 •

. The knife fingers rise through the center cut.in t~e material, cutting tabs at the endR of. the sewn oocket. The fingers can be actuated t~ move up in three ways: (1) Semi-automatically, when the knee·control is pressed, the fingers will rise and return to the down position. (2) Automatically, at the end of a sew cycle, the fingers will rise and return to the down position. (3) By turning the control panel FINGERS switch to the UP position. The fingers will rise. . If it is desired to raise the fingers to change the blades, this can be done by setting the control pane1 FINGERS switch to UP. They can be lowered again by turning the front panel F'INGERS switch back to SEMI or AUTO.
