Adding Layer 2 Interfaces • The introduction of the Command Center Subsystem and Workstation Subsystem Components necessitates introducing Layer 2 Interfaces. • The approach is to introduce one or more child interfaces at Layer 2, while keeping the parent’s relationships and add the child interfaces • i.e., a Parent Interface includes Child Interfaces • Using the child connections simplifies the maintenance of the connections as the Interface design proceeds. Otherwise, the systems engineer must disconnect and reconnect the Interface or Link to the lower-level component.
