are in action before a packed house for the 14-bout bill at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday evening, and then go to Kidlington in Oxfordshire for their respective bouts in the Class B ‘03 group.

Jury will take on Noel Thomas from Bristol’s Bartonhill club at 34 kilos, while Tomlinson’s opponent at 38.5 kilos will be Curtis Rennie from If successful, the pair will fight in the semi-finals the following weekend, with the finals taking place the weekend after that. DONNINGTON rower Matthew Rossiter made a spectacular senior GB debut when teaming with Jacob Dawson to win the men’s pairs at the opening World Cup event of the season in Belgrade at the weekend. It was Rossiter’s first world cup regatta and as stroke to Dawson’s bow, the pair won a series of races to claim victory for the GB team . Rossiter won a number of international races at junior and under 23 level, but seven years ago it looked as if his rowing career might be over when he sustained a serious back injury. It kept him out of the sport for nearly three years, but the Lean- der athlete has battled back to the top level and signs that he was back were shown last month when he and Dawson finished second behind Olympic gold medallists Mo Sbihi and Will Satch at the final GB trials, booking their first-ever place at senior GB level. They eased through their heat in Belgrade by four seconds, surging ahead of Netherlands duo Mechiel Versluis and Mitchel Steenman after 1250 metres and going on to win with Spain’s pair a similar margin adrift in third place.
