2018 Tour

With a new year comes a new tour for PRCA cowboys to compete in for the 2018 season.

The Wrangler ProRodeo (Tour) consists of 22 rodeos and allows all cowboys eligible to compete in tour rodeos the opportunity to earn Tour points and qualify for the Justin Finale in Puyallup, Wash. The Tour Standings are based on points contestants accumu- late after placing and earning money in all go-rounds at Tour rodeos (including the long rounds, average and finals). Tour points are given according to payoff placing, for example, if a long go-round pays eight places, 80 points are earned for first down to 10 points for eighth. The number of points contestants accumulate is solely based on their performance at each Tour rodeo.

For tied placings, the total points are equally divided; for all events, except bull riding, only qualified scores or times receive Tour points. Bull riding points can also be earned through ground money payouts, meaning the total points available are split evenly between the top prize-money placings.

ProRodeoTV.com will livestream 12 rodeos, while the Wrangler Network will webcast the other 11 Tour rodeos. In addition, CBS Sports Network will broadcast five Tour rodeos, including the Finale.

The Top 24 contestants in each event based on Tour Standings will advance to the Tour Finale on Sept. 6-9 in Puyallup, Wash.

The Finale will feature a two go-round, back-to-back rodeo with a finals performance; the top eight in each event will compete in the semifinals and the top four will compete in the final round. The winner in each competition of the four-round will be deemed the 2018 Wrangler ProRodeo Tour Champion. “Wrangler has been an outstanding partner to the PRCA and the sport of rodeo for a long time, so it only makes sense that they would be the sponsor of our premier tour,” said PRCA CEO George Taylor. “This new tour is something that contestants and rodeo fans alike can be excited about, and it will only add to the great regular season the PRCA already offers.” For more information on the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour, visit www.prorodeo.com.
