€33m deal for Nexans

NeXANS a €33 million contract by Terna – Italy’s electricity transmission grid operator – to manufacture, install and test approximately 250km of 150kV high-voltage (hV) aluminium underground cables and accessories for power development projects in the Lazio, Basilicata and Campania regions. The projects form part of Terna’s ten-year investment plan (2011-2021) to enhance Italy’s power infrastructure. The cables supplied will feature a 1,600mm 2 aluminium conductor cross section with anti-explosion outdoor sealing ends. Quaker Chemical Corporation has announced net sales of $159.9 million and earnings per diluted share of $0.91 for the first quarter of 2011, up 25 per cent and 8 per cent, respectively, compared to net sales of $128.3 million and earnings per diluted share of $0.84 for the first quarter of 2010. Michael F Barry, chairman, chief executive officer and president, said: “We are off to a good start in 2011, despite the continuing challenge of escalating raw material costs.
