Welcome and Committee Objective: Mr. Glazer welcomed those present and reiterated the committee’s objective: to provide feedback, suggestions and recommendations to the Club Management to maintain and improve the Frenchman’s Creek dining experience of its members. Go Green: Malvika made a presentation on Frenchman’s Creek’s ongoing Go Green initiative. Some of the already implemented / ongoing projects are: - Installed paper and plastic recycle binds throughout all facilities - Replaced Styrofoam cups with biodegradable foam cups - Cardboard recycling is ongoing - Formed a Staff Green Team with representatives for each department. Weekly meetings are being held - Visited Broken Sound to learn about their green initiatives - Installed limited bat and owl houses near Fitness Center Pool - Conducted an energy audit to evaluate consumption – FPL recommendations are being implemented: switching all lighting to LED, motion sensor lighting throughout all facilities - Introducing linen napkins and limiting the use of paper napkins - Reusable linen liners to collect recycles - Replacing styrofoam to go boxes with biodegradable - Replacing plastic mouthwash cups with paper cups - Updating members through FCTV, emails, newsletters - Employee training and education is ongoing – new hire orientation with slideshows, recycle videos, green for green rewards program Information is also being shared with Business Development/ Marketing to be used as a sales pitch for potential buyers. Currently Florida does not have any facilities to recycle glass. Water: Mr. Glazer consulted with Dr. Cosentino, a connoisseur in water quality. According Dr. Cosentino, purified water is best versus filtered or spring water. The Frenchman’s Creek bottled water is purified water. Plastic bottles that scrunch when squeezed are a better choice versus the more rigid ones. For oil, glass bottles are a better option to avoid any leaching. Dr. Cosentino will be invited to the next committee meeting to talk about water quality.
