More importantly, people make life decisions based on purpose and they are looking closely at the club’s purpose before making a decision to interview. 4. Form a Club-within-the-Club. Many clubs across the country have formed affiliate groups that address horticulture, gardening, birds, bees and other environmental issues. Club should consider creating a Green affiliate group where the facilities participates and provides club tours and education. 5. Define Measurable Metrics. Consolidate meaningful metrics and measurements on a dashboard or spreadsheet and link the metrics directly to the Strategic Plan. Data comes from many different sources i.e. departments, so it is important to task a specific individual with gathering and distributing the data. 6. Participate in Green Lectures. Facilities and Engineering have intimate knowledge of the buildings and the facilities and is the biggest contributor to eco-friendly initiatives. Contact local organizations that have expertise not available at the club and invite them to speak to members as part of the lecture series. 7. Add Facilities / Engineering to the monthly newsletter. Articles regarding air, water, energy, facilities and ways in which the club is being eco-friendly will appeal to many members for a variety of reasons. These members make great Committee Members. 8. Contact Third Parties. Leverage local third-party service providers, foundations, associations and integrate their Green initiatives related services to support the club’s Green initiatives. 9. Expand the Mobile App for Home Services. Include “Green” content, articles, videos, links and resources on the member mobile app to increase participation in activities, events and club sponsored programming. Smart phone apps are emerging as the most effective tool to inspire and motivate people to engage in Green initiatives related activities. 10. Install Charging Stations for electric cars. 11. Replace gas powered shuttles with electric cars. 12. Install Solar panels on surfaces that do not conflict with the ambiance. 13. Replace all non-LED lights with LED lighting Clubs that aspire to be known as a Good Neighbor understand the importance of being known as eco-friendly.
